SOME OF THE QUESTIONS WE
HAVE ANSWERED IN THE PAST:
Do not hesitate to ask any question regarding your visit to Olympia. We shall answer it.
Is it possible to visit Olympia from Athens as a day tour? Yes it is. We depart from Athens early in the morning in order to allow you plenty of time at Olympia. If you think that 5 hours in Olympia is too much, we can return earlier. You spend an hour in the archaeological museum and about 2 hours in the ancient site. The file of pictures and information that we give you helps you realise the meaning of the sanctuary for the ancient Greeks. Olympia was a sacred place for them.
How long does the trip take from Athens to Olympia? Normally it takes me a little less than 4 hours each way. The distance, via Patras and Pyrgos, is 330 km.
Are the tours organised only for small groups and families? True. The tours are organised as private tours for couples, families and small groups. However, many people allow an extra person or two to join them. This way the price is shared. Ask us and you might be the extra person.
Do we stop somewhere on the way? About an hour from Athens we pass from the Corinth Canal. We always stop for photos and rest room fascilities.
Do we have the guide with us at Olympia? In the museum you do not need him. In the site however, you do, and that is where he tries to reconstruct the buildings of the sanctuary.
Can we visit ancient Corinth on the way? Sorry, but we cannot. The visit to Ancient Corinth adds at least 2 hours to the trip.
Is lunch included in the price? No, it is not. There is plenty of time to have lunch, but the lunch is extra.
Can we visit ancient Elis on the same day? We can if we leave earlier from Athens and stay 4 hours at Olympia instead of 5. There will be an extra charge of course.
Is it possible to visit Delphi and Olympia in one day? No way. Delphi is North West and Olympia is South West. You can do it though in a private 2 day tour.
